WHF/WHFF Partner Series: GAO's Reports on COVID-19 Housing Protections for Renters and Homeowners

The CARES Act provided temporary protections for millions of households against foreclosure and eviction, as well as temporary forbearance, allowing borrowers to suspend mortgage payments for up to 360 days. Housing specialists from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) will present and discuss their recent work examining the effectiveness of these protections and agency efforts to administer them.

Speaker Bios
Cory Marzullo is an Assistant Director with GAO’s Financial Markets and Community Investment team in its Chicago field office. Her work focuses on renter and homeownership issues, including pandemic-related housing protections, affordable housing trends, and federal housing subsidies. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago.

Brandon Kruse is a Senior Analyst with GAO on the same team in its Atlanta field office. His recent oversight work has focused on the low-income housing tax credit program, BSA/AML regulations, and pandemic-related housing protections. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Public Administration from the George Washington University.

Matt Rabe is an Analyst with GAO on the same team in its Chicago field office. His recent housing work has focused on trends in the housing market and affordability, including options for reform and pandemic-related housing protections for homeowners and renters. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University.
