Since the spring, COVID and the economy have dominated our headlines. Another focus of attention lately has been the Postal Service and its own fiscal struggles.  Senate Democrats, including Ohio’s Senator, Sherrod Brown, and New York’s Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand have introduced bills to allow post offices to offer banking services.

Tanya Otsuka will discuss the benefits and challenges of postal banking and the role it may play in our current economic and health crisis

Tanya Otsuka is a Counsel for the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs for Ranking Member Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), where she focuses on bank and credit union issues and monetary policy. Prior to joining the Committee, Tanya worked as an attorney at the FDIC, most recently as a legislative and regulatory counsel specializing in deposit insurance and assessments. She earned her J.D. from Boston College Law School and her B.A. from the University of Virginia
