WHF/WHFF Partner Series: Remote Online Notarization: Can I Close My Loan Over Zoom? Amid the ongoing public welfare and economic crises, consumers continue to need access to credit - one source of which is home loans. But social distancing orders make closing mortgage loans complicated. Whether a notary is permitted to notarize the borrower’s signature remotely using audio-visual technology is subject to a varied patchwork of state laws. Adding to this complexity is the question of whether the local recording office will accept the remote online notarization. Ms. Tank will discuss these various laws and ensure that the audience knows the difference between a RON, RIN and an AVON. The Partner Series is a virtual version of WHF’s signature Brown Bag Lunches (BBLs). Members are asked to give a donation to the WHF Foundation to attend the event (a suggested amount of $5). Nonmembers (who would otherwise not have access to our BBLs) can register for $10. Because our BBLs are typically provided free of charge, the entire amount of the donation should be tax deductible; however we cannot provide you with tax advice and recommend you consult your tax advisor.
