In honor of the 10+ years of the WHF Foundation, please consider contributing directly or through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) #19283.
The WHF Foundation is comprised of members of Women in Housing & Finance, Inc., an organization of professionals in the fields of housing and finance, who dedicate their resources and knowledge to help women and their families in the Washington, DC metropolitan area by providing charitable services and educational activities primarily in the fields of housing and finance.
In September 1997, WHF launched the WHF Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to:
- Develop personal finance counseling programs to enhance the financial literacy of low-income women or other at-risk individuals;
- Provide partnership grants to organizations that provide services to women and their families in the Washington, DC area; and
- Create an internship or scholarship program for women students interested in the fields of housing and finance.
Since its inception in 1997, WHF Foundation has contributed over $505,000 to local organizations through more than 100 grants, conducted more than 230 financial literacy sessions and provided student grants of $5,000.
Grants
In August of 2000 the Foundation made its first grants to six local non-profit organizations. These grants continue to help local organizations serve women and their families in the areas of housing and finance. The organizations that we fund have exemplary track records at serving their target groups, which included homeless families and low-income women. Every year since 2000, the Foundation has awarded partnership grants.
Volunteer Activities
WHF continues to explore opportunities to partner with, and refer members to, community service programs in the Washington metropolitan area to provide information and technical assistance to enhance economic opportunities for low-income and other underprivileged individuals.
