Operation Hope
The WHF Foundation is partnering with Operation Hope, a national nonprofit organization which facilitates financial education in low-income communities. Operation Hope provides volunteer opportunities for individuals to conduct financial education in local schools. They use a five-hour curriculum geared towards students, and Operation Hope trains the volunteers. Operation Hope’s volunteer training will be held the first Thursday of every month at the Hope Center located at 2509 Good Hope Road SE, Washington, DC 20020 (or by appointment). The WHF Foundation is partnering with Operation Hope in April 2010 to provide volunteers to spend one day teaching financial literacy to seniors at DC’s Wilson High School in conjunction with the American Bankers Association’s “Teach our Kids to Save Day.” Please click here to learn more and get involved.
Personal Finance Counseling
Please contact the WHF office at whf@whfdc.org or 703-683-4742 if you are interested in volunteering for our Personal Finance Counseling program. This includes teaching sessions in basic budgeting, handling credit successfully, reading a credit report, introduction to bank services, etc. The WHF Foundation uses the FDIC’s Money Smart curriculum.
