Program Description:
These expert speakers will provide insight into the new standards of preemption for banks, thrifts and their subsidiaries in a post-Wall Street Reform Act marketplace.  They will discuss what this means to federal and state regulators, state Attorneys general and market participants from the perspective of examinations, supervision and potential litigation

Speaker Bio:
Mark Olson’s distinguished career in financial services has spanned over 40 years, holding top-level executive positions in the public and private sectors. Mark joined Corporate Risk Advisors after three years as Chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, five years as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the Federal Open Market Committee, and after serving as staff director of the Securities Subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban affairs. Mark is also a past President of the American Bankers Association. Mark spent more than a decade as a partner with Ernst & Young LLP (formerly Arthur Young & Company), where he became national director of the financial services Regulatory Consulting Practice.

Mark served former Congressman Bill Frenzel (R-MN) as Legislative Director for Banking Industry issues (1971-72) and as Director of the District office (1974-76).The deep regulatory, public policy, and consulting experience Mark brings to Corporate Risk Advisors clients is complemented by his Minnesota banker family heritage. Mark began his banking career at First Bank System (now U.S. Bancorp), and was later named President and CEO of Security State Bank, a community institution founded by his father in 1957. Mark holds a BA in economics from Saint Olaf College in Minnesota and was named a Distinguished Alumnus in 2003.

Jonathan Cannon is a senior associate at BuckleySandler LLP. Mr. Cannon works with financial institutions, financial services companies, mortgage companies, banks, securities broker-dealers, and other financial services providers regarding federal and state regulation. He advises clients on multi-state licensing, alternative mortgage transactions, and compliance with consumer credit lending laws and regulations such as RESPA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, GLBA, ECOA, and HMDA (with an emphasis on mortgage lending), and on responding to examinations and governmental enforcement actions.

While in law school, Mr. Cannon was the Articles Editor of the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law. He is the author of “2008 Survey of RESPA Developments,” 63 Business Lawyer 611 (Feb. 2008) (with Robert M. Jaworski and Joseph M. Kolar).

Mr. Cannon received a J.D. from the University of Virginia in 2006, an M.A. from Middlebury College in 2001, and a B.A. from Colby College in 1996 (magna cum laude).
