Speaker: Congressman Jim Himes (D-CT)
Program Description: Brought to you by the Legislative Task Force, this is one in a series of events enabling WHF members to meet Members of Congress who are on the Senate Banking Committee or the House Financial Services Committee. Join us for a cup of coffee at an informal, early morning gathering. This is a chance to become acquainted with Representative Jim Himes and to hear his perspective on issues before the House Financial Services Committee.
Speaker Bio: Congressman Jim Himes represents Connecticut’s 4th District in the United States House of Representatives. He is currently serving his first term in Congress and is a member of the House Committees on Financial Services and Homeland Security.
Prior to his election to Congress, Congressman Himes ran the New York City branch of The Enterprise Community Partners, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing the unique challenges of urban poverty. His team led the way in financing the construction of thousands of affordable housing units ion the greater New York metropolitan region, often using new green technologies to achieve energy efficiency and reduce utility costs. Congressman Himes also served as a Commissioner of the Greenwich Housing Authority, and became an elected member of his town’s finance board. Additionally, he has served as Chairman of his local Democratic Town Committee. Rep. Himes began his professional career at Goldman Sachs & Co., where he worked his way up to Vice President over the course of a 12-year career.
